About the Authors
Francis Bacon (1561-1626) was an English philosopher, statesman, essayist, historian, intellectual reformer, and champion of modern science. He served as Attorney General and Lord Chancellor of England under King James. Bacon argued for natural philosophy guided by the scientific method. Considered one of the founders of modern science, Francis Bacon was called the father of empiricism.
